All are invited to this exciting and very unique concert at Christ Cathedral! The program features music performed on both the Hazel Wright Organ and the Arvella Schuller carillon, with performers including Christ Cathedral's organ and carillon scholars. All proceeds benefit restoration of the historic pipe organs of Cattedrale di San Rufino in Assisi, Italy. Organ works include selections by Frescobaldi and Langlais (including the dramatic pedal solo from his Hommage à Frescobaldi), music of Vierne, Duruflé, Purvis, Cecilia McDowell, and a landmark new work Voices in a Quiet Cathedral by Alan Terricciano of University of California Irvine. Several works feature the cathedral's 52-bell carillon, including Clarence Mader's Bell Serenade and Robert Hebble's Cathedral Tapestry, written for and premiered at Crystal Cathedral using the carillon and the two consoles of the Hazel Wright Organ.
